Yr-4 Psychiatry R1
Dear Students
Welcome to the psychiatry posting
Here is an important announcement.
This academic year will be a little different due to the unprecedented situation being the COVID19.
Teaching will be using a ‘hybrid’ teaching format this being face to face teaching for those of you who are in Malaysia. For those students who are overseas or in Malaysia and cannot attend face to face sessions, the teaching will be online simultaneously.
For the students in Malaysia who will be having bed side teaching please note that there will be strict guidelines in place in the psychiatry ward. Currently only 4 students plus one lecturer will be permitted at any one time
Please ensure that you familiarise yourselves with the student management notes and the standard operating procedures (SOP) for clerking in the psychiatry ward. These notes can be found in the first week of the posting on this LMS system.
We understand that psychiatry is a new subject to all of you which is why every morning during the posting the person in charge of that session will be doing a short clinical briefing before the teaching for the day begins. The rationale for this briefing is to enable students to raise or ask questions about issues relating to the posting which may include the following:
Dealing with difficult patients in the ward (please also refer to the standard operating procedure for clerking in the ward), bed side teaching, reading materials, teaching and learning etc.
This briefing is an opportunity for you to ask or clarify anything which you are not sure about; so please take the opportunity.
Please remember to maintain social distancing, wear a face mask and use sanitizer.
Stay healthy and safe!
